The Ninth Diplomatic Envoys TCM Health Day Successfully Held in 2024

To promote the inheritance and innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), further explore its cultural essence and contemporary value, fully leverage its unique role as a "key" to the treasure trove of Chinese civilization, and promote the high-quality integration of TCM into the Belt and Road Initiative in Chaoyang District, the 9th Diplomatic Envoys TCM Health Day was successfully held at the Beijing Massage Hospital Chaoyang Branch on October 15, in anticipation of the upcomntering 41st Inational Day of the Blind.

Jin Tao, President of Beijing Massage Hospital, extended a warm welcome to all guests. He then elaborated on the hospital's mission and practices in promoting the integration of the physically challenged and able-bodied individuals, advancing medical massage services for the blind, and fostering international exchange of TCM culture. He expressed his hope that this event would enable TCM services to benefit more international friends.



This event was jointly organized by Beijing Massage Hospital and Chaoyang District Sanlitun Second Community Health Service Center under the guidance of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Chaoyang District Health Commission. Attendees included Li Dongmei, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Vice Chairperson of the Eighth Presidium, and Vice Chairperson of the Executive Council of the China Disabled Persons' Federation; Luo Zenggang, Member of the Party Committee of the Municipal Health Commission, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; and Shu Bilei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chaoyang District Party Committee and Deputy District Chief. 

This event, themed "Love and Light on the Silk Road," aimed to promote TCM health knowledge among foreign diplomats in China, showcased the essence of TCM, and offered diverse TCM services. Ambassadors and their spouses from seven countries, along with diplomats from over ten nations, attended the event. The event featured the unveiling ceremony for the "Beijing Tuina International Exchange Center Training Base," the "Beijing Tuina International Exchange Center Clinic of Renowned Physicians," and the "Beijing Tuina International Center Chaoyang Practice Base." Certificates of "Honorary Chairperson of the 9th TCM Health Day for Foreign Envoys in China" were presented to the ambassadors, followed by the launch ceremony for the partner institutions of "Beijing Tuina International Exchange Center."






In celebration of the 41st international Day of the Blind, Wang Hailong, a blind medical massage therapist at Beijing Massage Hospital, shared his remarkable journey of overcoming adversity to ultimately achieve his professional aspirations. Blind medical massage therapist Xu Miao captivated the audience with a heartfelt erhu performance, receiving resounding applause throughout the venue.


To promote international cultural exchange, international friends were specially invited to perform the eight trigrams boxing, vividly showcasing the unique charm of traditional Chinese fitness culture. Diplomats and leaders from various countries extended sincere holiday greetings to the hospital's visually impaired staffs, presenting them with carefully prepared exquisite gifts. This gesture conveyed profound care and respect for the visually impaired community, further promoting international cultural exchange and mutual understanding.


 

The event featured multiple experience zones for international guests, alongside exhibitions of massage equipment and handicrafts created by artisans with disabilities. Ambassadors to China and their spouses were invited to explore traditional Chinese therapies including massage, acupuncture, and TCM nursing. They also crafted TCM-themed bead strands, herbal incense plaques, herbal bookmarks, and medicinal beverages. They also learned to create lacquer fans and batik scarves with Chinese elements, visited the massage equipment exhibition area, and admired paper-cutting and traditional Chinese opera mask-making demonstrations by disabled artists showcasing Chinese cultural heritage. After engaging with various TCM products and services, they unanimously marveled at the profound depth and richness of TCM culture.


This year’s Health Day for Foreign Envoys in China  not only enhanced foreign friends' understanding of TCM and health culture, but also provided a valuable platform for promoting international health exchanges and cooperation.
